A Realistic Sunday Reset

Household Chores:

Pick what is pressing. Maybe Sunday doesn't work for you to do your laundry and sheets, and it's a day that you have time to do a quick tidy-up or yard work. You don't need to be literal with these lists; you know what needs to be done in YOUR house.

Brain Dump:

Doing a brain dump isn't a new phenomenon; it is where you write everything in your mind on paper. There are many tips on what to do next with that list. I've heard to place it on your calendar for the week or highlight the 3 most important ones for this week. Another thing you could do is leave it as a list and refer to it until all items are crossed off. Set it up in a way that will lead to your follow-through.

1 Thing to Take Care of Yourself:

Whether it be a face mask, reading a book, doing some yoga, journaling, mindfulness, or catching up on a favorite show, you don't need to do 17 things all on Sunday and overwhelm yourselves with a “self-care” routine that takes up half of your day. If you have time for more than one thing, then fantastic!

Pick a Theme:

What do you want this Sunday to look like?

  • Connect: Plan a Sunday brunch on the patio with your girls or a family fun day that includes an outing and returning home to BBQ. Whatever connection with others means to you, do that!

  • Restore: Think of this day like a warm blanket wrapped around you figuratively and literally. A few ideas may be taking out the puzzle, reading a novel, journal, taking a nap, or perhaps doing nothing.

  • Create: Pick up a paintbrush, write, do arts and crafts, work on family photo albums, create floral arrangements for your home, go to a flea market to find new decor for the house, play with new cuisines, or bake for tonight's dessert .

  • Explore: Throw a meal in the crockpot for dinner and head out of the house with lunch packed in the cooler to explore new hiking trails, visit a state park, or stay in the cities and check out a new town with local shops and stop at a restaurant you've never been to before.
